ONE OF A KIND PRESS PHOTO PACK WITH NEGATIVES from a very important photographer's estate in Clearwater Florida! This packet is from 1953 and looks like Clearwater high school where our photographer did a lot of documentary style pictures for the school there throughout his career. Photos and negatives are included along with the original photographers numbered packet.
Packet numbers help us to date the photos as they were consecutive and enough were dated to help us do that. I can't make out what the last word on this package says. It says PTA which I assume his parent teachers Association, but the last word isn't making sense to me. This was obviously some sort of a skillet or play.
There are five photographs and five negatives all in good condition. The photos measure approximately 3 1/2 x 5 and the negatives a little bit larger and are on Kodak safety film. Photographer for the city of Clearwater for over half a century. Also a Navy enlisted photographer during WW2.
After cleaning out the residence & studio in 2014, we have been sorting through over 100,000 photographs for the last 10 years, and are finally offering some of the best ones up for sale individually. We hope to Bring recognition to his life's work as well as to find homes for the history of an entire city as documented by the city photographer. The photographs include everything you would've expected a city photographer to have been present for, from weddings, to new construction, aerial photographs, sporting events, school events, press photography, police, Jaycees, and a really nice, but VERY LIMITED collection of nude photographs, some possibly from a nudist camp that is still in operation here today. Even more limited, there were a handful of war photographs and film that we were able to save. The photos that are being offered here were well preserved, found inside the home and studio, in a cool, dry, cellar type setting.
This is quite a project for only two curators, so please follow us, and be patient as we slowly unveil the contents of this massive estate. And always, if you see something that you like, please make an offer!
