This is a GENUINE VINTAGE WOODEN SEGREGATION SIGN. It has great ORIGINAL PATINA AND WEAR.
The pictures aren't the best but this is an amazing example of an early segregation sign. The color is almost a faded reddish color with hand painted words FOR NEGROES ON ONE SIDE AND FOR WHITES ON THE OTHER. They even put little periods after the words. The varnish shows good honest aging and crazing and the hand painted words are under the varnish when put under magnification. No doubt at all this is vintage.
There are 2 crudely made brass slots. One on either end and I'm sure this attached to, or set on something else.
Possibly on a train or other transportation, or possibly in a theater but it appears made to separate 2 areas. Overall condition shows even wear and aging throughout and it does have some old soiling and one spot where something cut it years ago. Easurements are 20 inches long by just over 3 inches tall by 1 1/4 inches thick. 100 PERCENT GUARANTEED OLD AND ORIGINAL This has been in our collection for several years. It's a little pricey but try to find another one.
