Vintage Lawn Jockey Statue Black Americana! PICKUP ONLY! NO SHIPPING

This traditional lawn jockey is in the upright cavalier style. It is made of concrete and 44 tall, without the original paint, although after years outside, appears weathered. The previous owner claimed it to be from the 19th century and had it at their house since the 1950s. However, it appears more vintage than antique. Original sculptures were cast iron.

And were much heavier (up to 300 pounds) than this one, which weighs approximately 80 pounds. This lawn jockey shows the remains of electrical wiring under the arm, found on ones from mid-century. Legend has it they were used in the days of the Underground Railroad to help guide slaves to freedom, with green ribbons tied to the arm to indicate safety, and red ribbons to pass by, but this is not substantiated.
