Founded in 1968, its primary goal was to create a new nation composed of five southern states: Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina. The RNA envisioned a nation where Black people could govern themselves and achieve self-determination, free from the perceived oppression and systemic racism of the United States.
