VERY RARE Vintage original Aunt Jemima 1920 Pancake Box in Good Condition Black Americana. This box was well preserved in an old country house kitchen in upstate New York where it was originally found. Did you know Aunt Jemima lived in Upstate New York? Nancy Green's likeness was the original face for their pancake boxes and syrup bottles.Many people recognize that Anna Short Harrington was the next face for their brand. Anna Short Harrington came from Upstate New York. She came to Syracuse as a maid and she began cooking for several Syracuse fraternities. Her pancakes became legendary and she took her talents to the New York State Fair and that's where her life was changed. Her cooking was so delicious that she was hired by Quaker Oats to be the new face of Aunt Jemima.
She lived in the Syracuse area for 25 years and owned a house in the 15th ward. She died in 1955 and was buried at the Oakwood Cemetery. This will become one of the most iconic and treasured items to add to any Black Americana collection!
Features the original Aunt Jemima (Nancy Green). This box once contained 1lb. It is, of course, empty now. Pretty Good condition for its age.There is a tiny pour hole at the top right corner where the flour was poured from and no odor. The secret recipe is shown on the front of the box. Recipes for pancakes, muffins and waffles are on the back of the box.
