Signed FGW Ferdinand Gerbing / Mid 1800's Black Americana Humidor Terracotta

I have not cleaned or wiped him down, may contain dust. Signed FGW - I believe 42 being the number - last image. 7" high by 6" at widest.

Two years in and Schiller set up his own factory elsewhere, leaving Karoline (Witwe means "widow") to run the show, making this one of the only marks of a woman on Industrial Revolution-era European ceramics. The "FSW" stamp dates the piece to between 1850 and 1861, the duration of Karoline's ownership.
