Surprisingly excellent well preserved condition for being a softcover book of this age. This is the 1946 Edition of "The Negro Travelers' Green Book".

The book primarily shows hotels and motels where black travelers could stay without being harassed in 1955, though other establishments are listed such as barber shops, restaurants, etc. The book measures 5 inches x 6.75 inches and contains 82 pages.

"The Green Book, " as it was known, was first published in 1936. By a Harlem mailman named Victor Green.

Initially, it pointed out friendly restaurants and hotels in New York. It eventually expanded to include everything from lodging and gas stations to tailor shops and doctor's offices across the nation, as well as in Bermuda, Mexico and Canada. The travel guide pointed out safe havens where African-Americans could eat and stay. The pamphlet promoted vacation without humiliation.

Travel guide, known as the "Green Book, " helped African-Americans travel nation. The guide was started in 1936 by a Harlem mailman named Victor Green.
