Rare Minton Tile The Blackville Doctor Framed Black Americana Ceramic Plaque

Rare 19th Century Minton Tile - "The Blackville Doctor" - Framed Ceramic Art Plaque. This is a rare and original ceramic art tile produced by Minton & Co.

Featuring the racially satirical image The Blackville Doctor. These tiles were popular during the late 19th century and are part of a now-controversial series of Black Americana scenes. The tile is beautifully color-printed and glazed, framed under glass in what appears to be the original Victorian-era wooden frame. These pieces were used as decorative wall plaques or architectural accents in upper-class homes and institutions. Medium: Glazed ceramic art tile.

Condition: Excellent with age-appropriate crazing and surface patina. Frame: Period wood frame with glass.

Marked: "Minton Tile" on the reverse. This artwork contains racially offensive caricature imagery that was common in 19th-century Western decorative arts. It is listed as a historical collectible, offered solely for collectors, scholars, and institutions preserving Black Americana and visual history.
