Taken in front of Lincoln's house, decorated with flags and mourning flowers, with many African American women and men visible in the background. A fine very scarce addition to any serious collection. Please view photos as they are part of the actual description. Has been in a frame with others I will be listing for many years.
Sent outside the frame and will be double boxed in hard plastic holder. The consignor's story of these items goes like this: My great grandmother's side of the family lived in Springfield and knew the Lincolns after the president's death.
I'm fairly certain that's where the cards came from. Meaning they've been in my family for almost 150 years. When my great-grandmother was a baby in the late 1800s, her family was at Lincolns house.
When she became fussy she was laid down in the late president's childhood bed to rest. I believe my family was told to Put her in Abets old bed. The rest of her life, she always got a kick out of telling people she'd been in Lincoln's bed and she lived to be 101 so she got a lot of kicks out of it.
