After some searching on the net we found that the Strobridge Lithograph Company of Cincinnati and New York, was well known for printing Circus, Vaudeville and Theater Show Posters. That would explain why the nineteen black acrobats in this poster all dressed the same.

They must be part of a Vaudeville troupe who combined comedy with acrobatics. Century poster lithograph measures 21 ¼" by 34 1/8". A past owner removed the lid and protected the lithograph with a piece of glass. He left the iron latch, but removed the hinges.

As you look at the close up photographs you can see all of the different acrobatic positions and you will also see that this poster has a split across the middle, as well as various marks, stains and rubs. Even with these problems this large lithograph still displays nicely. Because of the wood cover and the glass, this Black Americana Lithograph weighs almost 33 pounds.
