This is a bound compilation of Cooks' speeches and writings from the 1940s through the mid-1960s, likely published sometime not long after his passing in 1966. The first page features Marcus Garvey on African Fundamentalism followed by a biography of Cooks by THE BLACK TRUTH editor and Cooks' biographer Robert Harris please see some text above as examples. Dates on the various pages range in chronological order from April 1941 to April 15, 1966.

Overall condition is fair with black tape binding as issued? Unpaginated (84 pages, complete); considerable wear to binding and many pages (mainly margin areas) + browning/staining along upper outer margins as apparent; some pages have closed tears neatly repaired/reinforced. With clear matte archival tape.

On blank pages and on one margin text is crisper in person than in our pictures 8.5" x 11". Became involved in the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) early in life and. Went on join the Garvey Union and its Universal African Legion. Garvey played a central role in shaping Cooks' political career. At age nineteen, Cooks was an official and active member.

In the years between Garvey's death (1940) and the appearance of Malcolm X in Harlem (1954), Cooks was one of the most important Black nationalist figures in Harlem and the United States. After Marcus Garvey was deported, Carlos Cooks led the Advance Division of the UNIA.

On June 23, 1941 (his birthday) Cooks founded the African Nationalist Pioneer Movement (ANPM). Born out of Garvey's UNIA.

The ANPM as an educational, inspirational, instructive, constructive and expansive society composed of people desirous of bringing about a progressive, dignified, cultural, fraternal and racial confraternity among the African peoples of the world. Cooks was committed to Black economic achievement. On May 5, 1966 Cooks died in Harlem at the age of 52. Exceptionally rare please also see an original scarce vintage copy of Cooks.
