Its hardly an overstatement to identify this hand carved nutcracker as racist in its character portrayal, but folk art is folk art and that's what this is... Difficult to date, but most likely 1920s or 30s would be my guess, though I doubt it ever was used to crack a nut. The detail is superb and clearly executed by someone with considerable carving and artistic skill. As for dimensions, he stands 11 3/4" high, 11 1/2" in length overall with the handle.
