Very scare collection of personnel letters, documents and early photographs from the family of the famed author and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. This large collection contains over 100 items and all authentic originals.
Emerson's died and his wife remarried and One male was born that took the name of Emerson as you may see in a letter signed in the collection along with many photographs and many personal letters of the new family and relatives. Images are mostly children with maids or family tending to them and letters describing all the events of the day. The other half of this collection contains business documents mostly covering the large knitting mill he owned half of and even more business items that are in high details of who inherits what properties, homes and personal properties and let me tell you this is very interesting. There is a lot of history with many big names of the day in these documents. One eulogy book (front cover shown in pics) has on the front " Friend Of Lincoln".
The warn personal letters gives a great perspective that is really detailed with one passage saying Emerson wanted to change his first name to Waldo and drop Ralph. This is a fine collection that I hope gets to the proper hands to preserve and share this new found historical treasure. Any questions feel free to ask.
