Original Coon Chicken Inn All Metal Toothpick Holder Marked Bottom Felt 1940's
What, I've got here for your consideration is this small, original "Coon Chicken Inn" counter top, toothpick holder from the 1930's-40's. Casted as a single piece and made in a non-ferrous alloy and is a hallow metal figurine, that has been painted and plated with the original felt soft touch bottom pad and marked, Coon Chicken Inn. Also, a line has been written just above and below on the felt cloth which is very hard to read due to the fading on the ink (see photo's). On the back of the head, near the nap of the neck, is a stamped large letter D.
The condition on this vintage collectible piece of restaurant memorabilia shows as a Very Good Plus with no visible damage done to the painted art work on the figurine but, does show some peeling of the bronze colored plating near the front of the Maitre D` hat (see photo's). This is the only visible issue concerning it's appearance other than some slight dust.
Out of sight on the bottom felt piece, it does show the letter fading as mentioned with some surface wear and discoloration or some light fading on the vintage felt pad (see photo's). The measurements are as follows: Height is 3 1/2" x Length on the base is 3 1/16" x Width is 2 from the tip of the nose to the back of the base.
X Inside opening diameter is 1 3/8" x Depth of the opening holder is 1 3/8". The total weight is 8.925 oz.
