Very rare and fantastic, original 1859 Manuscript Slavery Related Document from Bourbon County, Kentucky being a "Manumission Declaration" / Official Document stating that a black man by the name of Thornton Love, formerly a slave, was now a free person of color - a "free man". This fantastic Document certifying that a slave has been given his freedom is written on a high quality paper sheet that measures approx. It is dated March 7th, 1859 and carries file docketing on the reverse.
The Document is fully manuscript and reads in full: Know all men by these presents that I B. Bowers of Bourbon County KY have emancipated and by these presents do emancipate and set free my negro man slave Thornton Love and authorize him to act hereforth as a free man. Given under my hand at Paris this 7th day of March 1859. Bowers Bourbon County Court March Term March 7, 1859. The foregoing deed of emancipation was produced and acknowledged in open court by Ben F.
Bowers a party thereto to be his act and deed and ordered to record. Brown clerk of said court the date above. The Document carries manuscript docketing on the reverse that attests to the fact that it was once filed with the Bourbon County Kentucky Clerk.
