Very rare and fantastic, original 1859 Manuscript Slavery Related Document from Bourbon County, Kentucky being a "Manumission Declaration and Bond" / Official Document stating that a black woman by the name of Nancy Shearman, formerly a slave, was now a free person of color - a "free woman". This fantastic Document certifying that a slave has been given her freedom and a bond has been posted to guarantee that she will not become a ward of the State is written on a high quality paper sheet that measures approx.

It is dated October 14th, 1859 and carries file docketing on the reverse. The Document is fully manuscript and reads in full. Sealed & dated this 14th day of October 1859. The consideration of the above obligation is such that whereas the above named Nancy Shearman hath been emancipated & set free by the last will and testament of Shadrack Shearman decd of record in the Bourbon County Court.

Now should the said Nancy Shearman never become a charge to any county in this Commonwealth of KY for her support & maintenance, then the above obligation shall be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Nancy Shearman (seal) / Her X mark Elisha Hill (seal). The Document carries manuscript docketing on the reverse that attests to the fact that it was once filed with the Bourbon County Kentucky Clerk.
