NIERHAIR (BIGGER HAIR) TOBACCO CAN circa 1878 withplexiglass display case

It is VERY RARE to find this complete item in such good condition -- nearly 150 years old!!!! This was a product of the B. Liedersdorf Company in Milwaukee WI, successors to the American Tobacco Company. The can states that the product was registered in the US Patent Office on April 3, 1878 the year it began sales. This product was renamed with a somewhat less-offensive label some 75 years later when the production company changed the product's name to BiggerHair in the 1950s, following criticism from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Today, its tins remain a prominent collector's item and can be found at various auctions. The Age of Persuasion (Large Print 16pt). VERY RARE to find the complete items like this -- Comes with ORIGINAL handle AND cover.

It is COMPLETE and displays very nicely with great character. This tin measures about 5 ½ inches in diameter and about 6 ½ inches tall. It has some MINOR paint loss, scuffs, scratches, and rust spots and dings/dents but is in exceptional condition for piece of this age. SEE PIX for condition details.
