A nice lot of 6 advertising sheets, catalogs or labels for African American Women (a few for men) from ca. 1930s-1990s, all are rather scarce and although objectionable, the language is quoted from actual piece. Skin lightener/whitener or bleach, to powder, pomade, skin and hair products and 1990s high fashion from Essence.

Medicinal items (mouthwash to douche powder), soaps and shampoos, Powders (in numerous dark shades), etc. For the Colored trade heading on both sides in red and caps. This appears to be an updated sheet from 1953, it has been overprinted with the new date and a few price changes.

12p small booklet, condition "as issued" yellow and orange drawings on the covers, the centerfold is a woman surrounded by numerous containers of La Dainty products; pressing oil, bleaching cream, cocoanut shampoo, etc. Notes for over 35 years, thus 1920 start date would indicate ca.All illustrations appear to be of stereotypical white persons although the products include those for the African American trade. Catalog is clean and bright, unmarked, other than a trifle bit of edgewear, it is as issued. The 8p clearance sale pages contain clothing and lingerie. The main 32p catalog offers office attire and striking formal dresses, African inspired pant/top sets, hats, lingerie, and even art work, shoes and boots.
