It was a time in Southern America of Post-Reconstruction and Jim Crow law in Tennessee. The studio also made a series of exploitation photographs using local people of African descent. These photographs depicted scenes of racial stereotypes such as untrustworthiness through excessive stealing, gambling, drinking and other more malicious acts. Discovered in an early 1900's frame in an estate lot in Northwestern Virginia. This particular photograph was issued in 2 sizes and this larger format is far more scarce.
Exhibits some light wear, tape residue on back. No major rips or tears. Has spotted paper loss along right side. Has a light sepia tone.
