Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a young man, in full case. If so, Joseph was a gold miner in California, and died there in 1852. He does have a resemblance to Thomas.... Original seals still appear to be intact. Looks like a piece of fabric, maybe the tip of a curtain, is barely visible in the shot in the upper right.
