A beautiful and rare sixth plate daguerreotype of a well dressed gentleman with two ladies. The sitters' relationship to one another is unclear.

However, they could perhaps be siblings. They appear to be in a mourning embrace, perhaps after the loss of a loved one.

This is further suggested by the landscape behind them, with wispy and moody clouds in the sky. Based on the dress of the sitters, the image was likely made in the late 1840s. The maker is unknown, however, the daguerreotype was found in the Eastern USA, and it's exceptional quality indicates it was likely created by a reputable photographer catering to America's elite at the time.

The image remains crisp, sharp and beautiful. The daguerreotype comes with it's original case and hinges and is in very good condition.
