This is a rare and hard to find tin lithographed coin bank from the 1930s. It was made by J. Chein and Company, one of the most prolific tin toy manufacturers in the U.
From the 1920s through the 1970s. They also made the beautiful ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds and even the Ride-a-Rocket wind-up toys you may have seen in toy collections of today. This particular tin bank depicts a banjo player and a dancing little girl in front of a log cabin. It is very similar to another rare bank by Chein Co. Called the Three Little Pigs bank.
Chein tended to use the same basic toy design and just change the lithography to update or create a different theme for a toy. Beautiful tin lithography on all four sides and the roof and chimney. Color is exceptional- NOT faded in any way. A few very minor nicks and some light pitting around the window above the banjo players head. Coin trap door has been pried open and bent but can probably be restored if you know about those things.
Some tabs need to be reinserted but all seem to be there (not broken). Once tabs are reinserted, the side walls should snug up nicely. Please see pics for a detailed view. I cannot detail every little square inch. If you don't like it just send it back.
