Centerville California Sierra County mounted photo

This photo is 5" x 8" on a 8" x 10" mount. The mount is scuffed and stained but the photo is in excellent condition.

The photo is not identified on front or back. I determined it to be from Sierra County by a process of elimination. There were numerous Centervilles in California, but all of them except two were/are at low elevation, in foothills.

Only two were at high elevations, Sierra County and Alpine County. There is a State camp ground at the Alpine County location today and you can see pictures of it on line.

It's near the Nevada border in Pines and sage brush. This image shows the location to be in steep rugged terrain with white fir trees that only grow at higher elevations.

According to information on the web, the Centerville in Sierra County was near Allegany. I could not find any photographic images of this Centerville on the web. This could be the only one and thus very rare. Centerville 1869 is painted on front of building. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs".
