While yes, this is a cute kid in a marching band costume (simple was a common costume in the early days of Halloween dress up) but one should direct their attention to that jack-o-lantern trick-or-treat pail! That is one creepy jack-o-lantern!

It would have likely been paper mache because plastics were not mass produced until after WW2 and this is from around the 1920s. With this in mind, the creator did an outstanding job.

That apple he is eating is likely one of the "treats" he tricked or treated for. Fruits were a popular treat handed out in the early years of trick-or-treating. Actually the Halloween custom of trick-or-treating and costume wearing was still relatively new so applaud his efforts! From the stamp on the back this would have been taking around Cicero, Illinois (Chicago). Great condition - there are some stains on the back but none on the front. No tears or creases and the picture was centered and developed well. A 5" x 7" photo. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs". The seller is "zipsdm" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
