This appears to be an old Minstrel show prop - mid 20th century. Folk painted ukulele - not playable, missing fret, strings, and pegs - housed in an old violin case. The paint decorated case is titled "AMO'S JONAH" over a fat rounded black face painting. The back of the ukulele says "THE FATTEST MINSTREL" with a painted watermelon over one end. The face of the uke has a chicken on nest, two chicken feet at the lower end and a chicken face at the top.
The ukulele is 21 inches long - 6.75 inches wide. More of a show prop than a playable instrument - at least at this time. There is also an old bow in the case.
