Studio: Platt & Hawley, Oberlin, Ohio. Information on Henry Platt is as follows. Platt was a pioneer photographer in Oberlin.Many of the early photographs taken of Oberlin and its residents bear his name. His first studio was located on the southeast corner of College and Main Sts. An advertisement for his business contained his motto which read,'to have patience and perseverance with children. The album is made of leather with brass buckle fasteners. There are a few photos that show names.
The binding has separated from the photo pages. Most of the photo pages are still attached to each other. It measures 7 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide x 3 inches deep.It contains 25 gold gilded pages with gold embossing on the pages. One, of a young female child, may be a tintype. This item is an antique and it will show signs of wear and usage consistent with age.
