Rare Antique Marie Laveau Black Americana Stockinette Display Doll Handmade Folk Art. From the late 1800's, or very early 1900's-pre-1930's Stockinette dolls are very rare and hard to find, a common type of doll for the 1800's... Estate had in their family since at least early 1900's and family, who originally came from Louisiana, have always had in their family; grandma always had it out on display and was said to be Marie Laveau. Stockinette face hands, soft body, all originally clothing(clothing doesn't appear to be removable, most likely stitched to body in areas).

Feels and appears to be human hair-see pics. Highly detailed; facial features stitched, hands & fingers... With bead type earrings, and hair to back. Gold sequined black jacket, front and back, red dress and head wrap, with a tiny bead to center, front, of head wrap.

Bottom is a dome shape soft material that makes this display doll stand well-see all pics. 11" W- approx 5 3/4" across bottom base In good condition; small tear to front left jacket near armpit, not really noticeable(will leave to next owner if they want to repair), minor wear, slightly dusty but inline with advanced age.
