We are pleased to offer this outstanding ANTIQUE BLACK AMERICANA TOBACCO JAR. A hand-crafted Art Pottery jar with amazing detail by AUSTRIAN POTTER JOHANN MARESCH (1821 1914). This figural TOBACCO JAR featuring a handsome NEGRO BOY with pipe in hand sitting on a watermelon wearing patched trousers is a masterful example of the potters craft. Bottom of jar is marked JM, it is the Johann Maresch mark and the number 3350. Except for a few insignificant paint-rubs on bottom section of the jar, the condition of this Victorian-era, hand decorated watermelon-boy tobacco jar is as originally made. There are no cracks, chips, stains or repairs. Measurement: 8 3/4 tall, 5 ¼ diameter Weight is 1 ¼ lb.
