ANTIQUE AMBROTYPE PHOTO Portrait of Man

He looks like a sea captain to me. Could be from the C. Gridley family genealogy line as it was listed in a lot with his picture too. The case is a rarely found leather book like variety. It is an ambrotype signed by Gutekunst & Bros.

Out of Philadelphia, PA back in the 1860s. The clasp on the case still closes. The tape like binding connecting both sides of the case looks original and is very fragile.

The case is in very good condition for the age. Look at my pictures for better details. They are part of my description.
