Antique 19th C 1830s Wooden Knife Box Gold Hearts Stenciled on Black Square Nail

This offering is for an antique circa 1830's wooden knife or utility box. The corners are probably dovetailed but it's impossible to see for sure under the paint. The handle was attached with square nails. The original black paint with gold trim and coppery gold stenciled decorations is also still in place and in wonderful condition. The decoration consists of a row of stylized hearts around all four sides and apples, pears and leaves on the center panel. The overall length is app. 12.5, the width is app. 8.5" and the height is 4". The condition is excellent with no breaks, cracks or repairs and the paint is outstanding. Please note that the box had a coat of varnish applied at some pint which has helped protect it but also makes it a bit shiny.
