Some of the painting has flaking throughout, and it has slight tears at the upper corners. No repairs, staining, or restoration. Please view all of the images, as they are part of this description. This is an example of one of Turner's more abstract renditions. It is apparently unsigned, but definitely authentic Turner. He received his BA from Philadelphia's Temple University's Tyler School of Art. Turner's paintings of city life are acclaimed and collected throughout the country. His paintings are in the collections of Woody Allen, Prince and Bill Cosby, and in the homes and corporations of many dignitaries. Turner said, My paintings are vignettes of city life, depicting the joy and pathos of ordinary people in their daily pursuits.
There are no embellishments or decorative additions. But my people become heroic just by being, just by living from day to day. Turner taught in the Chester Schools, was a lecturer and guest artist at Widener University, and lectured at the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania. His appointments include Artist-in-Residence and Curator, Deshong Museum, Chester, PA; He toured and lectured in The Peoples Republic of China. Collections which hold Andrews paintings include Woody Allen, Dr.
Maya Angelou, ARCO Chemical Company, Bell Telephone Company, Dr. Bill Cosby, Edie Huggins, Eric Lindros, Mr. And Mrs Louis Madonni, Moses Malone, Penn State University, the artist formerly known as Prince, Mr. Harold Sorgenti, Swarthmore College, Mrs. Marilyn Wheaton, and Widener University Deshong Museum, just to name a few.

My paintings combine the drama inherent in seventeenth century Dutch painting with the brush work and the economy of the Impressionists. However, I look to the jazz idiom more so than to other contemporary visual artists for guidance and inspiration. I tend to measure the success of my pieces by how they stand up technically, emotionally and innovatively to a Coltrane solo or whether Ive captured the spirit of the occasion, a la Ellington. The subject matter, sometimes nostalgic recollections of my days as a young tough, covers a myriad of common folk activities.
The setting usually my native Chester, is a beehive of creative stimulation or a deteriorating ghetto depending on my state of mind. At the very least, hopefully, these vignettes of experience will help to provide insight into some African American lifestyles and serve as an inspiration to my students and others to continue the legacy of African American participation in the arts.
