19th Century Cabinet Card Photograph Young African American Lady
An 1800s Cabinet Card photograph of a young African American lady, fashionably dressed in 1800s attire. Cabinet Card photos were introduced circa 1866. Kelbaugh in his book, An Introduction To African American Photographs, after slavery ended, African Americans were free to create their own legacies. Many did so by taking Cabinet Card photographs. From 1866 to 1879, the photographer's name and address were often printed small and neatly below the image.
