GREGORY, a COMEDIAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST, STARTED HIS CAREER IN 1961 WHEN HUGH HEFNER OF THE PLAYBOY CLUBS ASKED HIM TO FILL IN FOR PROFESSOR IRWIN COREY AT THE CHIGACO PLAYBOY CLUB.THE SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Commitee) WAS ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN AMERICA IN THE EARLY 1960's. THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW BY PRESIDENT LYNDON JOHNSON ON JULY 2, 1964. SIZE about 14" HIGH x 12" WIDE.
