1919 Watermelon Coon Emerson Talking Book Record 78rpm Die-Cut Picture Disc

One of a series of die cut records made by Emerson in 1919 along with records in the pages of books. This one depicts a stereotypical image which I do not condone but offer as part of an archive of unusual antique records. I have many of these and they are interesting examples of the earliest die-cut records which you put the whole thing on your turntable.

This one contains a song which you see the lyrics on the back. Record is about 4.25 diameter. It shows some wear but is attached solidly. The center metal grommet came become loose with use but this shows no evidence of that. Left edge piece is separated but is there.

If this were mine, it's an easy fix with careful light application of Elmer's glue to the two edges. Let it stabilize, put it on a plastic cover with a cardboard back and it's solid ready for storage.
