1875 Talladega Alabama African American Freed Slaves Record Book Black History

1875 Talladega Alabama Freedman Home records book. Most of the people listed as "inmates" can be found in the US Census records at the home. I could talk for days on the fact the freed slaves were deemed as inmates. I would honestly think their treatment was worse than modern day inmates of our correctional facilities. I would imagine their living conditions were dramatically substandard compared to modern day incarcerated convicts.

About 5 by 8 inch in size. Creasing, folds, toning and wear.
