1861 Charleston Receipt for Sale of a Negro Slave, Molly a Girl 15 Years Old

A 7.75 x 3.5 document headed Charleston, March 25. 1861 a partially printed receipt with imprint of Z. The right and title of said slave I warrant and defend against the claims, etc. And likewise warrant her sound and healthy.

This sale was transacted four months after South Carolina had seceded from the Union. The receipt has creases and several small edge tears as shown in the scanned images.
