Double sided (see photos), showing the transfer of a multiple slave families and their children, identified by name, but difficult to read, from Samuel Smith to Sallie Ward Smith who later married to a man named F. Gustine of New Orleans, which has been identified as an occulist in the other 2 documents I have acquired. From my research, I have been able to determine that Gustine was a prominent Oculist (Optometrist) in the New Orleans area and also had oil discovered on his property, evidenced by a legal Garnishment against the New Orleans Oil Manufacturing Co.

The genealogy of the Smith family is a bit more difficult to research (for obvious reasons of a common name), but I have been able to find where Sarah Ward Smith, who is also mentioned in the document was married to Alexander Leftwich (a witness on the document), was born 1798 and had a son named Samuel, and John. There are also a couple of photos of Sallie Ward Smith found online, which are included in the photos, as well as a photo of F. The document is in overall excellent condition of the age and is nicely framed, in a two-sided glass frame, allowing viewing of the entire document, with proper signatures.

Framed piece measures 23" x 19", and includes a nice matting (see important note below regarding glass). This is a much more complete document than most you see offered, and is your opportunity to own a piece of US History. One of the documents has a high New Orleans historical significance in the name on one of the documents, so please review my other items.
