Vintage Wooden Segregation Sign Old And Rare

This is an old wooden, hand painted segregation sign with "For Colored" on one side and "For Whites" on the other. The wood measures 9-1/2" long and 4" high. There is an iron bar screwed to the top of the sign which would then allow the sign to be placed where intended.

These signs were often seen at railway stations, bus stations, public restrooms, water fountains, barber shops, restaurants, etc. I'm so thankful that I'm not living under those circumstances-how horrible for those who did. It is, however, history, and here is your chance to own a part of that history. This sign began my study and collection of Black Americana years ago, and I will be listing some of my collection over the next few weeks. I love it all and hate to part with it, but my kids have no interest.
