He is holding a lantern that is electrified; wiring is there and extends down through the jockey's leg to the base. The lantern seems to be old and not a replacement, but we cannot guarantee that it is original. It is vintage and has 4 sides and glass panes.Pedestal / block / base stand is about 6 1/2" tall and 16" square and has 1 1/4 bosses (rounded extensions) in the middle of each side for secure bolting. Condition is "as is", will need some restoration, rewiring and the jockey reattached to the base. It has holes for two bolts to attach to the base, plus one more hole for the wiring. One foot still has the bolt in it; the other has sheared off; see photo #11. It has some superficial rust but is not rusted through anywhere. It has a nice vintage look. The jockey and base are not cracked or broken or repaired; it is very heavy, it is all cast iron, it is vintage but not sure how old it is. We estimate it weighs about 150- 200 lbs. Based on lifting it and also on what others have stated in listings of similar jockeys. Probably first half of the 20th century. The base is all one piece including the bosses; the jockey has a seam so that the front and back are two separate pieces; the seam can be seen in the top of the extended arm and it continues at the back of the head. It can also be seen on the bottom of both feet in photo #11 -it is not broken, those are the seam lines.
We were told it came out of a private club on the north shore of Chicago. Please let us know if you have questions or need more specific information or photos. We will assist you in loading it into your vehicle from our garage.
