This beautiful Mammy cookie jar, wearing a light blue dress, was created in the 1950's by the Mosaic Tile Company. Made from vitreous porcelain, this Mammy is a sturdy, heavy jar weighing in over 6 pounds with a height of about 12.5 inches. There is a very, very small chip on the jar near the rim on the base.
This jar is incredibly rare, so if you are a collector, or just a lover of Black Americana, then this is the Mammy for you! Thank you for viewing our listing for Mosaic Tile Mammy Cookie Jar! In August of 2016 Storybook Ceramics, a family-operated business located in a small town of rural South Carolina, officially turned off their kilns and closed up shop after over a decade of creating faithful, handmade reproductions of some of the most popular American pottery from the mid-20th century! Over the years they acquired and preserved a very large collection of ORIGINAL ceramics from big name companies, mostly based in the United States, such as Shawnee, Hull, Regal China, McCoy, American Bisque, and many, many more.
Unless otherwise stated, all further auctions from this account are for ORIGINAL, VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE pottery, NOT reproductions. Additional photographs will, of course, be available upon request.
