Phillis Wheatley's Poem Recollection In 1772'the Annual Register' 1st Edition

First edition of The Annual Register For 1772 (1773) containing Phillis Wheatley's poem On Recollection. "Recollection" was first published in the very scarce March 1772 issue of The London Magazine. It was then modified by Wheatley before being published in her book Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral(1773), and subsequently in the more common September 1773 issue of The Gentleman's Magazine. The version of "Recollection" included in The Annual Register For 1772 is the original, unmodified version of "Recollection" published before both her book and the September 1773 issue of The Gentleman's Magazine. Original polished full calf leather binding with raised bands and 1772 in decorative gilt on spine.

Some gilt still visible on board edges. Exterior hinges show some wear but are not cracked. Minimal bumping on top and bottom of spine and corners. Some wear to binding but overall in very good condition.
