Cast Iron Black Lawn Jockey

ORIGINAL CAST IRON BLACK LAWN JOCKEY WITH ATTACHED CAST IRON PEDESTAL. This is an ORIGINAL CAST IRON Black Lawn Jockey, not the ones that are usually reproductions and made out of cement. This is also the LARGE Black Lawn Jockey that is as big as a small child, not the very tiny Lawn Jockeys that are about a foot tall and are sometimes used as door stops. Unlike Black Lawn Jockeys that were allowed to stay outside and exposed to harsh weather for many years, this one seems to have been allowed to stay indoors for most of his life, because it is in good Vintage condition. Most of the original Lawn Jockeys were created more than 100 years ago but were still seen regularly until the 1960s when some were destroyed because they were deemed as "politically incorrect, " which they were at the time. The huge ones like this one that are made of CAST IRON and stand on a large CAST IRON pedestal and is 40 inches tall, was used so people could attach their horses to it so the horses wouldn't wanter off. S because it is so heavy and valuable. The base, which elevates the Jockey, is sturdy and is also made of cast iron and is attached securely to the bottom of one foot (We have seem Lawn Jockeys standing on wood and other things that are not really part of the Lawn Jockey and not authentic, but everything about OUR Lawn Jockey is really PART of the Authentic Lawn Jockey). SWAGcollectibles has looked all over the item and has not seen any markings or dates on it. It is best to place your own lantern in the Lawn Jockey's ring which he holds in his hand.

Too valuable to stay outdoors so we suggest you don't do that. Best used as a conversation piece or even in a museum to teach people about History. Item has been pampered for about 20 years, but before this time someone painted it somewhat, but this Black Lawn Jockey is still looking good and is in very good Vintage character.
