Antique Johann Maresch Molded Terra Cotta Figural Tobacco Humidor. The lid is a portrait bust of an African American woman wearing a hooded cape. The base of the humidor is a wood grained and banded barrel. The woman's face is very expressive and beautifully modeled and entirely hand colored. Marks; Impressed, 9, JM, 8585.The barrel, no chips or cracks. Minor glaze crazing at the very bottom of the exterior and more crazing on the interior base. No stains in the crazing. The lid, tiny chip on the hood's left edge, see photo 7, also on the left shoulder, tiny losses of color.
On the right shoulder, one line of color loss, the smudge below it is tape residue. On the top center of the hood, one other rub.
