EARLY PRIMITIVE AMERICANA CLOTH DOLL 14. Original two-in-one (black and white) primitive Americana cloth doll, c. Painted faces, black doll wearing likely original organza dress with black diamonds, and matching red and white bandanna and scarf. White doll in off-white organza dress with ruffled prairie bonnet framing her face. Both with movable arms and mitt-type hands. The skirt can be flipped to cover the opposing doll. These type of dolls likely originated in the South when there were few ethnic dolls for black children.
