Thank You & Happy eBaying from all of us at RIICS Inc. Antique 1948 Black Americana Folk Art New Orleans Wedding Oil Painting NR. If you are not familiar with New Orleans Wedding Traditions, let me give you a little background.

One of the most common traditions, that has been passed from generation to generation in the New Orleans Community, is the Second Line Dance. Originally they were carried out by having a marching band and the entire wedding party dance down the center of a main street. This tradition is also often displayed as a more simple dance that the Bride & her Bridesmaids perform for her Husband. Dancing to the classic Jazz "Second Line" song the Bride will dance, while twirling and waving a decorated Umbrella, throughout the reception of her wedding, displaying her happiness and affection for her newly acquired husband!

This small 8" by 10" American Oil Painting is on artist board and has a wonderful southern Folk Art style. It depicts a beautiful African-American Bride, performing her "Second Line" dance for her Husband, who stands waiting for her in the Gazebo off in the background. The artist of this painting has signed the bottom right hand corner, as well as dated it 1948.

I have tried my hardest to make out the name of the artist, with no luck. Do you recognize their New Orleans style? We list every day, and you never know what you might find listed without any reserve!

We promise to list only the very best antiques and collectibles, and we also promise to describe every flaw and detail. Please read all of the information down below so that you understand exactly how we do business.
