PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BELOW & VIEW ALL 9 PHOTOS BEFORE PURCHASING Thanks. We are pleased to offer for your consideration an early American Browers Automatic Toy Dancer, patented in 1873. This rare toy features a clockwork driven dancing black man performing in front of a paper on board background scene of a Southern plantation. The figure is dressed in his 100% original clothes. We believe the entire toy to be in its original condition without any re-touch or repair. The paint on the top and back of the dancer's head as well as his shoes shows some loss. His clothing is very fragile and shows some loss (especially his pants) and the paper background has scattered loss, mostly around the edges. Included with the toy is an old clock key that fits the winding shaft very well, although it's not the original key. Overall, the toy is 8 7/8 tall, 6 ½ wide, and about 6 front to back.
The dancer by itself is approximately 7 ½ tall. This extremely rare toy will be a great addition for any antique American toy collection. Please review all photos above for the best description of this early American toy.
